For whatever reason you have stumbled across this blog I am forever thankful! Why? Because it is my goal to provide you with value for your life and let you know wherever you are in this journey we call life I want you to know YOU are NOT alone!
A little about me and more on why I created Jess Party of 5....this blog is an extention of my work as a Mentor/Life Coach & Licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L for short) where I help people of all ages with my 1:1 coaching & mentorship programs overcome trauma related experiences and start living a life full of quality.
I launched Diamond Mind Radio Podcast June 28, 2019 to help people through shared life experiences, highlighting the "how" rather than focusing on the "what". In the first few episodes I share my personal story.....my story of how I am no longer a victim, that I am not only a survivor of sexual abuse but a life lover. I felt it to be time I share who I am today and how we can be successful in life despite the trauma/challenges of our past. Episodes feature many guests from all walks of life who share how they have gotten to where they are today. (Interested in starting your own podcast? Start here! Trust me I have done the research & you can start for free).
Did you know 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will be sexually abused before age 18?!? Sexual abuse is an epidemic that isn't talked about enough partly due to the shame and stigma attached to it. I say enough of that! My earliest memories of childhood are saturated with child abuse by my very own father. As you can imagine this was incredibly difficult to live with. At age 11 I was raped by my parents employee. I spiralled quickly into a self destructive path filled with uncontrollable life choices...at least that's what I thought. Through the support of my peers and the ability to "TELL" I began my healing process. My first encounter with the therapist left me crippled, that's when I asked myself "why are you doing this?!" I took out my purple sparkle pen and wrote down my "reasons why", 13 of them to be exact. Let's fast forward 18 years, with a childhood filled with trauma the odds were staked up against me, to give you perspective my Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) score is a 10 (learn more here ).
Today I sit in my beautiful Florida home with my high school sweetheart, 2 children, and 1 on the way. I have an incredible life filled with peace, love, and happiness. It is not always perfect, that is for sure! The difference is that in this chapter of my life I have the control, a healthy mindset and the tools necessary to handle whatever comes my way.
I have made it my mission to infuse my passion for showing people that despite having gone through trauma we can overcome and conquer.. we can thrive...we can be successful.. we can live a meaningful life because we are not defined by labels or what society calls us. Remember my 13 reasons why?? I found that list about 4 years ago and guess what?! I reached every goal!
